"12 Shots for Africa"

Since years many organizations and thousands of volunteers have been operating in Africa, what we up here use to call "the south of the world". Many initiatives have been spooled in the areas of health, nutrition and education, in support of social and economical development, in defence of the rights of the population, very often focusing on children. It's all about actions of solidarity towards people and regions, those forgotten areas where war and poverty are just a daily matter.

Mother Teresa used to say :
"What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. "

Then come these photos, my passion, this initiative that is just a drop in the immensity of the oceans....
All of you wishing to join this ocean of human solidarity, be with a small offer or a more important participation, you have to know that any single coin will be invested into a concrete project, managed by an organization that has just one single objective : help and support Africa.

I sincerely want to mention and pass a special thanks to Sergio Sarra, the president of the CRA ACEA, who has warmly welcome, supported and made this initiative possible. The CRA ACEA committee operates with several humanitarian associations and is currently supporting 10 projects.

Three of them have already received the funds:
- the construction of a hydro system in Morocco, in cooperation with "Rotary International".
- The installation of a photovoltaic system in a hospital in Madagascar, in cooperation with "Associazione nel cuore dei bambini".
- The realization of a water pot-hole by the St Joseph school of Majungu - Kenya, in cooperation with "Luce Universale Onlus".

With "12 shots for Africa" we are now engaging towards the building of a school for the children of Dakla, in the Sahara desert. This is a project initiated by the "AUSER RisorAnziani ONLUS", an association helping senior citizens express their full potential as active members of society. For further details you may want to refer to the following URL:www.auser.it

Specifically this project is about a school of 16 classrooms that will host about 600 children, aged from 5 to 12. There will be dedicated areas for teachers, a library, a play area, all the standard sanitary services and a specific space dedicated to the Education of Health and Nutrition.
Named after "Carlo Giuliani" the school has actually already been built in the area of Tindouf Algery, in the Sahara desert, where the Saharawi people live. But it necessitates important interventions to the sanitary and hydro systems, an electricity generator and a water purification system
It's right there that we will pour our drop of water, to irrigate and to make things grow....
The people wishing to contribute can keep this calendar that encompasses my passion for the sea and photography. Alternatively this calendar can be a gift for a friend. Who knows, many more drop of waters may join this ocean of solidarity that seems so difficult to imagine up here....
To conclude I would like to mention that the company where I work and that promotes this initiative, the ACEA SPA, has committed to double the income generated by the sale of the calendars. We have printed 1500 copies that we are selling at a price of 10 Euros/copy.
All the money and offers can be made available via a bank transfer to the following account: CRA Acea pro Africa denomination: "Iniziative umanitarie - 12 scatti per l'Africa" Banca di Roma, n. 6251/32 - ABI: 3002 - CAB: 5188

Thanks for your support and with my best regards,

Stefano Calcabrini
