Stefano
Calcabrini has born in 1962 in Rome where he lives with
his wife Monica and his two children, Luca and Sara. Since
his childhood the passion for the sea has carried Stefano
underwater; where he spent entire days at the discovery
of a world that he considers bewitched. In 1979 he achieved
his first underwater certification with the F.I.P.S.A.S.
From that moment onwards apnea fishing monopolized his relationship
with the sea. In 1992 another passion, "photography",
pushed Stefano to the great change, the sparegun into the
loft, the Reflex gets underwater. Since then Stefano shoots
at fishes only with his Nikon camera. Through the years
he participated to few national competitions where he obtained
promising acknowledgments. The underwater photography boasted
its communication skills and in October 2003 Stefano opened
a personal Internet site to begins publishing images on
the web. Stefano's objective is to share emotions with everybody
and especially with people who havenever worn a mask. The
hope is to provoke in at least one person the desire to
undertake the way of the sea. In line with the spirit of
true sea lovers, he likes to remember:
"it
is my sincere hope that a better conscience of the sea,
that for thousands of years has taught men the wisdom, once
again will inspire the thoughts and the actions that will
enable preserving the equilibrium of the nature and the
life itself."

Technical details :
Stefano started taking underwater pictures with a manual
reflex, the Olympus OM1N, a Nimar housing, a 28 mm lens
and an Ikelite strobe 150D that he still uses and cares
about. After several upgrades, including a self constructed
dome for his underwater housing ( which is the most critical
component of the underwater photographic equipment), Stefano
currently uses a reflex autofocus Nikon F90x coupled to
two Ikelite strobes, 150D and 200D, a small slave strobe
and a set of Nikon lenses (105mm AF micro, 60mm
AF micro, 28mm AFD, 20mm AFD, 16mm AFD).
